Neil received his B.S. in Anthropology from the University of California, Los Angeles and his M.A. in Medical Anthropology from Case Western Reserve University. He spent 2 years working in clinical research, program development, and clinical operations at the Cleveland Clinic Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Section of Vascular Medicine. In addition to his involvement in the USC Student Health Council, Neil is a senior editor for the Southern California Policy Review and a graduate research assistant for the Tomas Rivera Policy Institute. He is currently completing his residency at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles in Ancillary and Support Services and is excited about pursuing his interests in operations and finance. Neil has an entrepreneurial spirit and enjoys playing the guitar, DJing, painting, and writing.

Director of Program Development: Vivek Patel
Vivek studied political science and business, earning his Bachelor’s of Arts at the University of California, San Diego. Currently, Vivek is completing his administrative residency at the Keck Medical Center of USC in the Caruso Department of Otolaryngology — Head & Neck Surgery. Vivek’s healthcare interests include heath policy, pharmaceutical development, and long-term care. Vivek’s hobbies include plane-spotting, reading The New Yorker magazine, and traveling as much as time allows before 30.
Program Development Chair: Salem Hawatmeh
Salem received his B.S. in Human Biology from the University of California, San Diego. He is currently interning at Frame Health, a company specializing in enhancing patient care and significantly lowering healthcare costs. His healthcare interests are centered around process improvement and increasing patient adherence. In his free time, Salem loves to cook, listen to Podcasts, and read up on various topics and current issues.
Director of Finance: Kim Pham
Kim attended the University of California, Irvine and graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health. Her past experience includes working at UCI Medical Center, Los Angeles County Department of Health Services and Keck Medical Center of USC. She is currently completing her residency at Kaiser Permanente. Kim is interested in the operations aspect of health administration and hopes to continue her career goals in the hospital setting. During her spare time, Kim enjoys being a foodie and going to Disneyland.
Finance Chair: Roger Tang
Director of EMHA/Alumni Relations: Joyce Liang
Joyce Liang graduated from the University of California San Diego with a degree in Communication. She is currently doing her residency at DaVita HealthCare Partners in Provider Contracting. In the future she hopes to work at a medical group or health plan as a Project Manager. For fun, she is always trying to find the best dessert places in LA.
EMHA/Alumni Relations Chair: Lisa Phan
Director of Public Relations: Lynh Nguyen
Lynh received her B.S. in Health Science at California State University, Fullerton. In addition to her involvement in the USC Student Health Council, Lynh is the Office Manager for the Los Angeles Institute for the Humanities. She is currently completing her administrative residency at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine department, where she hopes to increase her knowledge of strategic planning and operations. During her leisure time, you will find Lynh playing beach volleyball and eating all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ/ sushi.
Public Relations Chair: Viva Shastry
Director of Events: Karen Lim
Karen studied neuroscience and evolutionary anthropology, completing a Bachelor’s of Science at the University of Michigan (GO BLUE!) at Ann Arbor, in 2014. Seeing how cancer proliferates and devastates a family reaffirmed Karen’s mission to help those in need during their most fragile state; currently, she is completing her administrative residency at USC Norris Cancer Hospital, where she hopes to learn the operations sides of management. During her leisure time, you will see Karen plan weddings, explore the country, devour sushi, and visit zoos.
Events Chair: Clare O’Mara
Clare graduated from the University of Notre Dame in May of 2015 with a degree in Finance. As a dual degree MHA student, Clare is also pursuing a Master of Science in Gerontology. She is currently beginning an internship with Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles in the Office of Academic Affairs. Clare’s interests lie in health policy, health disparities, the needs of the aging population, and finance. She recently moved to California, so Clare spends most of her spare time exploring new places in Los Angeles, decorating, and taking advantage of the beautiful weather while running and hiking.
